Operation Blue Sign
By Van Baize, TSCRA Association Promotion Committee chair, Bowie
The Board Engagement Action Plan was adopted by the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) directors at the summer meeting in Fredericksburg, June 13 to 15. With the adoption of the plan, Operation Blue Sign is under way. Operation Blue Sign focuses on the importance of seeing TSCRA's blue "POSTED" sign on every gate in Texas and Oklahoma.
President Joe Parker has challenged us to grow TSCRA to 20,000 members by 2020. This is pretty easy when you break it down. If each of our directors and honorary directors recruits 3 new members per year until 2020, we can reach the goal.
Four initiatives have been developed to help board members with membership recruitment and retention:
- Establish expectations and culture.
- Provide tools, training and education.
- Increase local engagement and personal contact.
- Maintain a vibrant communication network.
The new membership application and printed materials highlight the reasons to be a member. At the summer meeting I passed out a "Wanted" poster to help directors focus on their goal. If you did not get a poster, contact TSCRA at 800-242-7820 and a poster will be mailed to you immediately.
Complete the front of the "Wanted" poster and then write your name and TSCRA member number on the back. Return your completed poster to TSCRA at 1301 W. Seventh St., Ste. 201, Fort Worth, TX, 76102, to be entered in a drawing for a special prize to be presented at the 2013 TSCRA Convention Weekend, March 22 to 24, Fort Worth.
Together we can honor and protect the ranching way of life.
"Member Notes - Operation Blue Sign" is from the July 2012 issue of The Cattleman magazine.
