Get Your Fort Worth Stock Show Tickets Early
Again this year, our friends at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo are providing Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) members an early opportunity to buy tickets to the wildly popular Ranch Rodeo and to sign up for special grounds passes.
Click on the Stock Show logo on the tscra.org home page to order. This offer is good until Dec. 31. Get your Ranch Rodeo tickets before they sell out, because they always do sell out.
By the way, our November magazine cover is provided courtesy of the Fort Worth Stock Show. They work with talented photographers such as rodeo photographer James Phifer, who captured the R.A. Brown Ranch team in the heat of competition. It is good to have friends in the industry to provide such great resources for TSCRA members.
The November issue is our animal nutrition issue, and we took a front-to-back approach in our lead article, "How Does the Cow's Digestive System Work?" Robert Fears takes a look at how a cow digests her food. Kristin Hawkins gives an update on the Grazing Animal Nutrition Lab — the group that looks at what comes out of the cow when she's done digesting that food. The GAN Lab can help you evaluate how the forage is meeting your herd's needs.
Heather Thomas provides vital information on anthrax, a disease that lingers in the soil for decades and pops up when conditions are right. Anthrax is certainly a handle-with-extreme-care situation.
Wes Ishmael takes a look at some long-held rules of thumb in our industry and questions whether those rules still apply. This is something to ponder after your Thanksgiving feast and during football game commercials.
Since this is the month of Thanksgiving, please accept a note from us to you the members, readers, advertisers and supporters: Best wishes for a very happy and safe Thanksgiving to you and your families.
