Gov. Dolph Briscoe honored for history endowment

Former Texas Governor and TSCRA Past-President Dolph Briscoe Jr. was honored at a dinner hosted by the Center for American History at the University of Texas, Dec. 4 in Austin, Texas, for his endowment for Texas history.

In May 2007, Gov. Briscoe established a $3 million dollar endowment at the Center to support programs, projects, collection acquisitions or publications in Texas history. The "Dolph and Janey Briscoe Fund for Texas History" is the largest gift that an individual has given the Center.

Among the guests at the dinner to honor Gov. Briscoe were former Gov. Mark White, former Lt. Gov. William Hobby Jr. and current Gov. Rick Perry.

TSCRA attendees included President Jon Means and wife Jackie, First Vice President Dave Scott, Executive Committee member Mark Wheelis and Executive Vice President Eldon White.
