Ag Secretary Schafer resists banning downer cattle
The agriculture secretary on Thursday resisted calls at a Senate hearing for a complete ban on so-called downer cattle—those unable to walk—from entering the food supply and insisted that current rules, when followed, are adequate. more
 

TSCRA honors Elliott with prosecutor of the year award
Fort Bend County Assistant District Attorney Michael Elliott will be recognized March 16 during the first general session of TSCRA's Annual Convention and Trade Show for his commitment to prosecuting livestock theft and related crimes. Elliott was instrumental in securing a plea agreement last year in the largest case of cattle theft in TSCRA's history. more
